I veer towards valuing your political and historical acuity over your astounding music-listening numbers. Many's the time I've listened to your recommendations and been pleased with what I'm hearing. Especially with jazz, where I don't otherwise get enough ideas what to scarf up. I AM intimidated by your cooking posts. Every time I read about some feast you've prepared I feel bad that the time you passed through I only had a vegan stew thing that wasn't very tasty at all. My wife usually does the cooking these days, while I always do the much more arduous cleaning up afterwards. She does pretty well, but that she won't cook for any of the few people I might deem worthy of sharing a table—it's one of my crosses to bear, I guess.
Of course, I've heard of the Minsk Accords (2014-15). Do you think that was (or would have been) a better solution than the one I am proposing? It certainly would have been better than the war, but it's a little late to go back. It's commonly noted that both sides failed to implement. I put more blame on Ukraine, where many felt that autonomy for Donbas would have given Russia a permanent right to interfere in their sovereignty. And also because such views were strengthened as US/European arms became available (especially under Biden, which triggered the invasion). I've long felt that a clean break would have been better (as Czechoslovakia has shown). Of course, with the war, getting there from here is messier. But that's the concept.
